Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Redda reader app (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a multilingual children's story app. By creating an account and using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Redda is operated by Redda Stories. These Terms apply to the Redda reader app (iOS and Android). For the publisher platform's terms, visit studio.reddastories.com/terms.

1. Account Requirements

The App requires a parent or guardian account to use. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account. The account belongs to the parent or guardian, not the child.

When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
  • Supervise your child's use of the App as appropriate for their age

2. The App

Redda provides:

  • A library of children's stories available in multiple languages
  • AI-narrated audio for each story in each supported language
  • Reading progress tracking and syncing across devices
  • A Kid Mode with parental gate (PIN or biometric) to protect settings and purchases

Stories in the App are translated using AI translation tools and narrated using AI text-to-speech technology. We do not represent these as human translations or human voice performances.

3. Subscriptions and Purchases

3.1 Free Tier

The free tier includes access to a limited selection of the catalog in up to 2 languages. No payment is required.

3.2 Paid Subscription

A paid subscription unlocks the full catalog, all supported languages, and offline downloads. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store or Play Store account settings
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their respective refund policies

3.3 Offline Content

Paid subscribers may download books for offline reading. Downloaded content is cached on your device. If your subscription lapses, offline content will become inaccessible until you resubscribe.

4. Content Licensing

All books, illustrations, translations, and audio narrations in the App are licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:

  • Redistribute, copy, or publicly display content from the App
  • Record, extract, or download audio narrations except through the App's offline feature
  • Use content from the App for commercial purposes
  • Remove or alter any copyright notices or attribution

Content in the App is created by independent authors and illustrators who retain ownership of their original works. Redda licenses translated and narrated versions for distribution through the App.

5. Author Compensation

Redda compensates authors based on how their books are read. We track reading activity (books opened, pages read, completion status) to calculate fair payments to the creators whose work you enjoy. This is one of the reasons we collect reading data, and we are transparent about it. For details on what data we collect and how we use it, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or our systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or extract content from the App
  • Circumvent the parental gate, DRM, or other security measures
  • Share your account credentials with others outside your household

7. Content Availability

The catalog of books available in the App may change over time. Books may be added or removed at our discretion or at the request of their authors. We do not guarantee perpetual access to any specific title. If a book you have downloaded offline is removed from the catalog, it may become inaccessible on your next sync.

8. Account Termination

8.1 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through the App's settings or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your reading data will be removed per our Privacy Policy. Reading session data used for author payment calculations is retained in anonymized form.

8.2 Termination by Redda

We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms or for conduct that harms the App or its users. Except in cases of severe or illegal violations, we will provide notice before termination.

9. Limitation of Liability

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that translations will be error-free or that narrations will be of a particular quality. AI translations may contain inaccuracies.

Redda is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Redda Stories is incorporated. As of the date of these Terms, Redda Stories has not yet formally incorporated. This section will be updated to reflect the specific governing jurisdiction once incorporation is complete. Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the most recent version.
