Getting Started

How do I choose my languages?

When you first open Redda, you'll be asked to choose your preferred reading language. You can change this anytime in Settings. Every story in the library is available in all supported languages.

How do I find stories?

Open the app and browse the library. Stories are organized by age range and category. Tap any story to start reading.

How does narration work?

Every story comes with studio-quality narration in every supported language. Tap the play button on any page to hear it read aloud. The narration follows along page by page as you read.

How do I switch languages?

While reading a story, tap the language selector to switch to any of the 18 available languages. The text and narration will update instantly. You can switch as many times as you like.

Kid Mode

What is Kid Mode?

Kid Mode locks the app into a reading-only experience. Settings, purchases, and navigation outside the library are hidden behind a parental gate.

How do I turn on Kid Mode?

Go to Settings and enable Kid Mode. You'll set up a PIN or enable Face ID. Once active, your child can read freely without accidentally changing settings or making purchases.

How do I exit Kid Mode?

Use your PIN or Face ID to unlock the parental gate and return to the full app.

Audio & Narration

Can I adjust the reading speed?

Yes. Tap the playback speed control while listening to narration. You can slow it down or speed it up.

Why is the narration not playing?

Check that your device is not on silent mode and that the volume is turned up. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app. If narration still doesn't work, contact us at support@reddastories.com.

What voices does Redda use?

Each language has a dedicated narrator voice. All narration is generated using studio-quality text-to-speech technology to ensure consistent, expressive reading across every story and language.

Is Redda free?

Redda is free to download. Some stories are free, and additional stories are available for purchase.

Do I need an account?

Yes. A parent or guardian account is required to use Redda. You can sign up with your email, Google, or Apple account. This lets us sync your child's reading progress and comply with children's privacy regulations.

Is Redda safe for kids?

Yes. Redda has no ads, no tracking, no social features, and no user-generated content. Every story is curated and age-appropriate. Kid Mode adds an extra layer of protection by locking the app into a reading-only experience.

What languages are available?

Redda currently supports: English (US), English (British), Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (European), Spanish, Spanish (Latin American), Swedish, Turkish, and Ukrainian.

Can I use Redda offline?

Stories you've opened are cached on your device, so you can re-read them without an internet connection. Downloading new stories requires a connection.

What ages is Redda for?

Redda's library includes stories for children ages 0–12, organized by age range so you can find what fits your child.

Does Redda collect my data?

Redda collects only what is needed to operate the app: your email for authentication, reading activity for progress tracking and author compensation, and basic device info for crash reporting. We do not show ads, sell data, or track your children across apps. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Privacy & Safety

How does Redda protect my child's data?

Redda never collects your child's name, photo, or location. Reading activity is linked to the parent's account, not the child. There are no ads, no tracking, and no social features. Child Mode locks the app into a reading-only experience.

What is sent to the internet?

Story content (text, images, audio) is downloaded from our servers when you open a story. No personal data is sent back. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Is Redda COPPA compliant?

Yes. Redda is designed to comply with COPPA (U.S.) and GDPR requirements for children's data protection.

Troubleshooting

The app is crashing or running slowly

Make sure you're running the latest version of Redda and that your device's operating system is up to date. If the problem continues, try deleting and reinstalling the app, then contact us.

A story isn't loading

Check your internet connection. If you're online and the story still won't load, try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, let us know.

Something else isn't working

Email us at support@reddastories.com with a description of the problem and your device model. We'll get back to you.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your Redda account and all associated data at any time.

From within the app

Open Redda, go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm. Once confirmed, your account and all reading data will be removed.

From outside the app

If you no longer have the app installed, email support@reddastories.com from the email address associated with your account and request deletion. We will process your request within 30 days.

What gets deleted

  • Your account and profile information
  • All reading sessions, progress, and activity data
  • Any locally stored preferences

If you are also a publisher on Redda Studio, your books will be unpublished and your publisher data will be permanently removed after 30 days. Any earned revenue will still be paid out per our Terms of Service.
